Join Healthy Adams County, Wilson College,  Capital RC&D, and the South Mountain Partnership on Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 1:00 PM to 6:30 PM for Closing the Food Gap; Connecting Community & Local Food and stay through the evening , 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, for the South Mountain Speaker Series event, Closing the Food Gap in South Mountain featuring keynote speaker  Mark Winne, author of "Closing the Food Gap" & "Food Rebels, Guerrilla Gardeners, and Smart Cookin' Mamas".

The afternoon professional symposium, hosted at Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA, will provide participants  the opportunity to learn more about issues and programs within the South Central PA food system addressing access, availability and usage concerns, as well as contribute during action planning sessions focused on the needs of the region.  These sessions will identify gaps, opportunities, programs, and develop ideas that that may ultimately aid organizations and businesses to collaborate more fully and better serve the residents of South Central PA. 

Mark Winne, the keynote speaker for Closing the Food Gap in South Mountain will provide a special address and guidance as we move through the afternoon in both learning and action planning sessions.  We are also proud to highlight many projects connected to the Adams County Food Policy Council and the broader South Mountain Landscape.  
Prior to the evening keynote address, symposium participants will have exclusive access to a networking reception featuring locally grown & produced refreshment and the unique opportunity to meet individuals, organizations, & businesses that are committed to working together to improve our regional food system. 
Anyone whose professional, volunteer, or personal interest work focuses on any aspect of food, nutrition education, or  food security & income issues should attend, especially those within the South Central PA Food Shed.  Your input is valuable and we hope you will be able to join us.
